Why are you not having your wedding at home?
Long ago we decided that when the time came to plan our wedding it would probably be a destination wedding. With Darnell's family primarily being in Philadelphia and Jamille's in New Orleans, it would inevitably involve traveling for a majority of guests; so having a destination wedding just makes sense for us. We also love that we will be able to spend more than just the few hours of a reception with our dearest family and friends, especially considering that this will be the first time our extended families are meeting one another. Besides, getting married ocean side in beautiful Mexico— and what's more perfect than that?!
Where are you registered?
We have decided not do a gift registry. Honestly, we have everything we could possibly want for our home and if you make the sacrifice to travel to be with us on our special day that is gift enough. The only thing we ask is for your continued support and prayers for our union.
Can I bring a plus one?
Yes! We understand that you are on vacation and would like to bring someone along as a plus one. Your guest will need to book accommodations with our travel agent as each booking is per individual. Please be sure to include each guest in your party when you RSVP.
Can I bring my children?
Of course! Aside from the Hideaway Adults- Only side, the resort is family- friendly, including an enormous on- site splash park, supervised kid's and teen's clubs, and non- motorized water sports. Be mindful that our planned events will include alcohol or you may choose to leave the resort to venture into the nightlife Cancun has to offer. The resort does offer babysitting services at an additional costs should you need it but please use at your discretion. You will need to book accommodations with our travel agent as each booking is per individual. See pricing for children on the Book Travel page. Please be sure to include each guest in your party when you RSVP.
Will dietary restrictions be taken into consideration at the resort and wedding festivities?
Yes! Royalton Riviera Cancun takes the safety of their guests very seriously and is able to accommodate your dietary restrictions. Be sure to include this with your RSVP so we can pass this information along to the resort.
What is the dress code?
Each event will require a different dress code. Please see the Events page closer to the date to view the details.
Where do I RSVP?
Formal invitations will be mailed closer to the date of the wedding with instructions on how to RSVP. Please complete as notated to ensure we are prepared for your stay in Mexico!
What's the weather like in Mexico during November?
Cancun is warm with plenty of sunshine in November, and is a bit cooler and drier than at the height of summer. During November you'll have an average high of 86ºF. The temperature remains nice and warm in the evenings, with temperatures only falling to about 68ºF at night.
What if I cannot go?
While we would love for everyone to be able to come celebrate this moment with us, we know that this may not be realistic. We realize that in choosing to get married in Mexico there will be people who just cannot make the travel with us for one reason or another. We completely understand- no hard feelings! Please RSVP when the time comes letting us know you will not be able to attend.
Will there be things to do outside of the wedding events?
We will have private events planned for the whole weekend (please check the Events tab closer to the date). The hotel also offers activities for you to enjoy during your down time.
What should I pack?
Dress codes for all events will be listed for each event. Please check back on the site for suggestions of what to pack.
What if I want to stay at a different resort?
If you choose to stay at a resort other than Royalton Riviera Cancun that is entirely your decision. We chose Royalton Riviera Cancun because of its location, all- inclusive amenities, pricing, and great reviews. We truly believe that you will have a great time there as a guest. All of our hosted events will be taking place on the resort grounds so should you choose to stay elsewhere you will be charged for a guest pass that is only good for a few hours. Again, it's your choice but we highly recommend booking with Royalton Riviera Cancun so that you enjoy the entire weekend without any hassle!

Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico?
Yes! You absolutely need to have a passport to travel by air to Mexico. If you do not have a passport we highly recommend applying for one as soon as possible to allow enough time for processing and delivery. Please do not delay in getting this done as you may run the risk of not receiving your passport in time for travel. If you do have a passport please be sure that your passport has blank pages for stamps. Also, your passport will need to still be valid for 6 months from the date of travel according to most airline guidelines. In other words, if your passport expires before May 2020 it would be best to get it renewed before traveling to Mexico to avoid any issue. Please find more info on new applications and renewals here.
When does my trip need to be paid in full?
We suggest to book your accommodations as soon as possible but no later than January 15th, 2019. $50 is needed to reserve your room. 50% of your total balance is due by May 1, 2019. The total balance of your reservation is due August 1, 2019.
When should I apply for my passport?
